Another Spring 2014 color trend here.  This time it's green (perfect for St. Patrick's Day too)!  Green always feels "right" in Spring, especially the hues that mimic the new growth on the trees and flowers.  Here are my picks to add a little green to your closet.

It's time for another Spring 2014 color trend, this time let's tackle orange.  This one has been around for a while and will stick around into next fall.  So rest assured anything you pick up now in this color will stay relevant for the next couple of seasons!

Spring 2014 Trends - Black and White

Let's go back in time, way back to September of last year, when I did my week long roundup of the trends for Spring 2014 fresh off the runway at NYFW.  Remember?  Well, the first post was about the color trends.  Now that it's (almost) Spring, let's revisit those color trend picks with some of my favorite finds available right now. Starting out with Black and White.

This is such a great trend because you most likely have black and white pieces in your wardrobe you can put on and roll.  Hello white jeans and a black tee!  But you can also pick up a great accessory to add a little oomph.  Here are some things that caught my eye (each under $100):

Book Review - "DIY Dye" by Loren Lankford

I was kind of surprised when a PR rep for a publishing house reached out to me for a DIY hair dye book review, but then I remembered that this is one of my most read posts and well, I think I know why they contacted me - ha!

But seriously, I've been dying my hair at home off and on for over 20 years. And boy, I wish there was a book like this when I first entertained the thought of dying my hair.  The book is written by Loren Lankford who is a freelance writer who has worked on magazines such as CosmoGIRL!, Cosmopolitan,  Entertainment Weekly, and Jane. She has an Etsy shop called Southern Dropout.  And yes, she still colors her own hair!

There's nothing crazy in depth here, I mean you aren't going to graduate cosmetology school by reading this, but you will have a better idea about what your options are for at home color, the steps you should take and what will work for you and your comfort level.  It's a guidebook more than a textbook, written in easy to understand steps and language.  And don't think she just covers "crazy" colors, she covers every color!  

I was so pleased that she covered henna, because I started out my color journey with henna and black coffee and have been toying with the idea of dying it with henna again (taking a break from the box color).  And with the information from this book, I'm going to do it!

She also covered dying with Kool-Aid!  My bestie did this in college and we could have used the wisdom in this book for a better method.  Trust me. our method of getting that color in her hair was ugly.  Let's not even talk about how much I would have used this book in college.

I was surprised how much I loved this book and how much new information I got from it.  I feel like there are more options and methods that I want to experiment with.  Hair chalk being one, I was a little intimidated and now I'm going to try it out.  After I get that henna on my hair - I just ordered this and will report back on my results. 

I highly recommend this book if you or someone you know is interested in learning more about DIY color options.  It's a great resource!

Bigs And Littles Blogging Network

I'm a few days late with this post, but I wanted to share my experience with the Bigs and Littles Blogging Network.  I was a paired up with the lovely Jessica over at Afternoon Style.   We emailed back and forth a few times, I asked a ton of questions, she gave me some valuable advice.  This is my second round with the network, my first time I really connected with my partner Sheryl, we seemed to have more in common - in fact we touch base quite a bit even now!  Not that Jessica and I didn't connect, but I feel like we didn't have much in common (and let's admit, I'm just a wee bit older *ahem*).  And we just got busy, that's what happens sometimes!  Overall, I highly recommend the network, it's allowed me to "meet" some lovely ladies and discover a bit more about this sometimes very confusing life of a blogger!

Review - MeUndies

Back in December I got a $20 gift card in my FabFitFun Winter box for MeUndies.  Well, I finally decided to use my card and get myself the briefs.  They also (after seeing my FabFitFun box review) generously offered to throw in a few extra goodies with my order for a review (thanks guys!).  Here's what I bought/was sent:

1. Women's Briefs in Grey - $20

2. Men's V-Neck in Black - $25

3. Women's Socks - $12 each

4. Women's Lowrise sock - $5

First of all, I must say the packaging is so fun!  Secondly, the quality of each product is outstanding!  The briefs are a very fine knit that is silky soft.  The fit is true to sizing and they are extremely comfortable.  My one complaint is that, while I do love these, I wish they had a style with a bit more coverage in the back. Somewhere between granny panties and bikini.  They have thongs too, but I hate a thong.  So just a thought guys ;o).

The V-Neck tee is wonderful, I love how soft it is. Since it's a men's product, it's a bit slouchy on me, but I actually like that sort of fit for casual around-the-house/errands times.  And it's made in the USA!

Now the big surprise was how much I LOVE the socks.  Like LOVE.  The Lowrise ones are perfect!

Here they are on.  They are just right in every way.  They have a thicker bottom for more cushion, a tighter knit around the arch to help with support and the elastic isn't too tight around the ankle part. These may be the perfect sock (solid color, no logo). I'm quite smitten - all this for $5?! These will be bought again (they come in black too)!  Yet another made in the USA item as well.

The patterned socks are great too.  I love a fun sock and these fit the bill.  They just got some new patterns on the website and they are so cool (the Pink Lemonade especially)!

So overall, I would recommend checking MeUndies out - they offer free shipping in the US and Canada.  They have new prints and colors coming out all the time which are so much fun!  Another plus is that everyone there is really nice and easy to deal with, you can tell they are really proud of the company and are working towards making it grow and offering quality products! 

Review - Everlane Sweatshirt and Tee

After I put up my "What I Bought" post last Friday, I got a lot of questions/comments/etc about this sweatshirt.  So I'm going to pop in with a quick little review about Everlane.  I've been interested in trying out the products for a while.  Well, I was not disappointed, the quality is fabulous!  I've been on the hunt for a short sleeved sweatshirt and this one is just about perfect. It's hefty without being heavy.  The inside isn't the brushed usual sweatshirt inside, it's the unbrushed loops, which I prefer.  I wanted a bit of a slouchy look so I sized up. But that's just personal preference.  I'm eyeballing the black version as well.  I've washed and dried it several times and it hasn't pilled or stretched/twisted.  The best part is that it's made in the USA!

I also ordered this tee.  For the price ($15) the quality can't be beat, it's a very fine knit with great hand and drape.  The V is a little too deep for my liking, but I can work around that with a cami or tank underneath.  I wish they just had a crewneck in this same cut.  That would be ideal.  Again, it's made in the USA!

Overall, I would highly recommend Everlane for basics like this. At these prices the quality can't be beat - trust me.  I can't stress how much I love the sweatshirt, it is one of my favorite recent buys.  I wear it at least once a week.  So I give them two thumbs way up!
