Peter Pilotto for Target picks

I'm not ashamed to admit I'm pretty excited to check out the Peter Pilotto collection for Target when it hits the stores on Feb 9th.  Am I going to camp out at the store and be there when doors open?  No way.  I'll wander into the store later in the day and see what's there and if it's worth my time or not.  Here are a few things that look like they have potential.
I'm digging this whole look.

These slip-on sneakers are pretty amazing - $29.99!

Anything catch your eye?  Are you excited to check the collection out?

What I Bought - June 2013

1. Mossimo Cardigan from Target - $6.99 (clearance)
2. Gap Cardigan (the prettiest neon pink) - $10.99 (sale) - similar
3. Gap Striped Mix Sweatshirt - $32.99 (sale) - this is the coolest mix of sweatshirt front and woven button down on the cuffs and back and it's so cozy.  I actually saw it one week, tried it on and liked it but left without buying it.  I found myself constantly thinking about it and the next week I went back and snagged it.  They have a dress version which looks like pjs or loungewear - not as cute for sure.
4.  Target boys oatmeal heather tee - $6 (not shown)

Total spent out of pocket = $56.97

Can you all believe tomorrow is June 1st?  This year is zipping by.  We joined a gym so I had to buy workout gear (bathing suit included for the water aerobics classes - yes, yes I did buy swim shorts like an 80 year old woman. And I had to buy sneakers because the heel literally ripped out of my other pair, I wish I could say they ripped because I worked out so hard, but sadly they were just old).  Here's what I bought:

Happy Weekend and the Target + Neiman Marcus Collection Debut!

First of all I want to thank all my new followers!  Wow, considered my mind blown, welcome!  I've had a crazy week full of sickness (my cold turned into a sinus infection and I got some meds yesterday so I'm feeling like a human again) and lots of work at my day job.  BTW, why is it always so darn crazed when you feel under the weather?  At least it seems that way.

What's on tap for your weekend?  I'm going to be ordering our Christmas cards (totally punting this year and using a really nice picture of my girl taken back in August by my brother with his iPhone and posted on his Instagram.  Yes, yes I am lazy.)  And I'm going to hit up Target to scope out the Target + Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection.  I've got my eye on the following items:
Oscar de la Renta tote - $60

Proenza Schouler sweatshirt - $30

Rodarte wrapping paper - $8

Rodarte ornament (I LOVE this) - $20

Are you excited about this?  Are you eyeballing anything from this collaboration too?

Stop trying to hide Karlie, we know it's you (and girl, you are everywhere)!

Have a wonderful weekend and don't forget to enter Jessica Who?'s November giveaway!

Target vs Burberry Owls

I popped into my local Target yesterday with the intention of picking up my girl's Pre-K school supplies.  Well that was a huge bust since they were wiped out of every crayon, pencil and eraser ever made.  Seriously it looked like a bomb went off.  Luckily she doesn't "officially" need these supplies until next Monday.  Feeling deflated I wandered over to the clothing section to see what they had.  Research, if you will (I will!).  Remember Burberry's Fall 2012 collection?  Remember all those adorable shirts and sweaters with the critters on them (the standout critter being the owl)?  Let me refresh your memory:
Cute, right?  But these are all just a bit pricey (the sweater is like $1200 and the tees are around $275).  Eeek!

I really hoped that a less expensive alternative would be available.  Well, leave it up to Target to help a girl out!  I was browsing the racks and came upon this cutie:
and to top it off it was on sale for $17 (originally it's $22.99)!  I think it's a nice substitute, so I snapped it up.  I also found this tee (but didn't buy):
It's $12 and would be super cute with some jeans and a black blazer!

What do you think?  Are you into the critter trend?

I Want This! - Missoni for Target (duh)

First, just to let you know that I have posted this week's new-to-me recipe on my Facebook page (and it was a grand slam in my house) - check it out!

Okay, I know I'm late to the game with my Missoni for Target post, but hey that's the way I roll right now.  Here are the items that I plan on making mine.  Now, I've been on a spending freeze as of late, but since I love Missoni so much and the stuff looks like it could be really outstanding, I've put some moola aside so I can splurge!  My wish list is as follows:
Yes, yes and yes to that cape/wrap!

This whole darn ensemble (but main focus on the tunic)!

The tote.

What about taking that robe and wearing it as a kimono with some jeans and a tank?  Me likey!

How gorgeous are these shoes?  They look money here, but we'll have to see in person if they are as fab.

Makeup bags - will be part of a Christmas gift idea for friends (shhhh).

These are for little girls, maybe can score a pair for my little one, if they come in her size.

Need some throw pillows - this would work perfectly!

Love the one on the left.  I'm hoping it's a large pillow.

A tray will most certainly be mine!

Ah, this is gorgeous!

Would love a frame...

And will certainly want one of these pictures (kind of digging the upper right purple one) - how amazing would all four of these look clustered together in a walk-in closet?  Oh, I miss my huge closet...

Okay, that's what I want.  Now we'll have to wait until 9/13 to actually see what I score.  Stay tuned!

Yeah, it's my birthday...whatever...

The title of the post pretty much sums up how I'm feeling about my birthday this year.  It's not been a pleasant week to say the least, sick kid, no sleep, having to squeeze in school work, etc - nothing tragic just too much.  It's also not helping that 40 is getting closer by the second and I don't feel like I'm at the place I should be or wanted to be at 37 - I don't feel 37, I don't think I look 37, well maybe some days I do - ha!  I had to hit a reset button at 35 and some days I still get PO'ed about it.  I try to stay positive but sometimes you just need to feel the rotten for a day, then make a plan to change what you can (hello, my mood!) and get back to the swing of things.  Enough of that rant (man up Jenny, really).

On a happier note, I've purchased a few little things for myself over the past week to enhance my wardrobe (and mood - retail therapy does work, as long as you don't go overboard).  Remember earlier this year I won Nesting Newbies Winter Bluebird Bag chock full of awesome stuff? Well part of the haul was a $50 Bloomingdales gift card and I finally spent it.  It was about darn time.  The discount stars aligned providing a 20% off discount code and here's what I got:

More House Of Harlow...
House Of Harlow at ShopStyle
A lovely House of Harlow black leather and gold necklace.  It's on it's way as we speak, I'll let you know if it lives up to the hype.  It will be my first House of Harlow purchase.

I also have been obsessed with these Target clogs since seeing them on Cathy over at Fashionably Southern and then on Jackie at Sweetie Pie Style.

More Mossimo...
Mossimo at ShopStyle
I hunted in almost every Target from Augusta to Atlanta without being able to score any in my size.  I ended up ordering them online along with this tissue turtleneck that was recommended by one of my good friends who is also turtleneck phobic (I have issues with things being that tight around my neck).  It's a very lightweight and the neck is really loose (not quite a cowl and not a tight turtleneck).   I ordered it in a size larger than normal and I must say it's pretty darn awesome.  It will be a perfect layering piece this winter!

More Mossimo...
Mossimo at ShopStyle

I have one more purchase up my sleeve using a gift card I won in a pretty awesome giveaway.  More on that later.

Also, I'm gutting my wardrobe once again.  I'm rethinking, rebuilding and rebooting my style as I enter a more "mature" phase in my life - HA!  Mature.  I crack me up.  Anyway I'm unloading some stuff that just doesn't work for me anymore.  I may list them here on the blog before I take them off to the consignment shop.  We'll see.  Thanks for reading this totally self indulgent post!  And I would be totally selfish if I didn't acknowledge that it's also Veteran's Day - a big thank you to all those who have served and are currently serving!  See you tomorrow!

Monday Madness

Oh dear, I'm sorry for the late post, but this weekend was a mess and I didn't have one minute to blog, plan to blog, etc.  You see we are experiencing some major sleep issues, and by "we" I mean my 2 year old daughter.  She's waking before 6am (usually she sleeps until 7:30-8am) and is boycotting any naps.  I'm not sure what the deal is, but I'm tired and a little frustrated.  Oh well, it will work itself out.  I just dropped her off at Mother's Day Out so now I can get caught up.  And by "caught up" I mean look at NY Fashion Week pictures until my eyes fall out, I love this time of year, it's so exciting.

I'll do a proper post later today, but in the meantime, I scored the Tucker for Target shirt I have been dreaming of since I first saw it (I adore the print and colorway):
Yay!  Can't wait to wear it (still a bit too warm down here, I'll give it a couple of more weeks).  I was really impressed with the collection, the butterfly print is beautiful.

Also, Pantone just released their Fashion Color Report for Spring 2011.

Check it out here

I want this! - Cynthia Vincent and Eugenia Kim for Target

*Update* I had to order the sandals online - they should be here soon!  Very excited!!

I'm totally digging a couple of items from Target's two newest designer colaborations.  First are these awesome yellow sandals:

Next this adorable grey hat:

Eugenia Kim for Target striped straw cloche in grey - $? (can't figure out the price 'cause the darn thing is already sold out - but you can look it up and see if it's in a store near you)

Rodarte Spring 2010

The Mulleavy sisters always bring something interesting to the table. Sometimes dark, sometimes kooky, sometimes you just scratch your head, not really your "throw on and go to the grocery store" clothes. In fact only a minuscule segment of the population could really pull their stuff off.* I would not be a part of that segment. However, I do appreciate their design work. Here are a couple of looks from the Spring 2010 collection inspired by California condors (uh, yeah).

*There is hope because they are doing a line for Target in the near future.

By the way, how are those models going to get that ink or eyeliner pencil or whatever off their arms? Yikes!
