My Five - Yves Saint Laurent Fall 2012

This was Stefano Pilati's last collection for YSL, which kind of makes me sad, I've come to love his work there.  It felt like an homage to the wide shouldered, leather clad 80's gals.  It was all about black, large, scattered prints and chain mail.  Sounds scary, right?  Well, it's not, it's actually quite lovely.  But really what I want to discuss are the shoes - the SHOES!  The amazing, gorgeous, fantastic shoes!  Swoon city, people!  Check them out:

What do you think?

Here are a couple of outfit picks - I mostly focused on the chain mail pieces because I found them the most interesting.  It's a material that comes off very tough and industrial, but he manages to use them in very ladylike ways.  I love that mix.
 Pencil skirt?  Yes, please!

Sheath?  Hello!

A detail shot of a dress - gorgeous!

And now some of the jewelry:

My Five - Yves Saint Laurent Spring 2012

Be still my beating heart, this was a lovely collection with fab, muted color combos that work for me (especially for Spring) and the shoes!  Here are my picks (with plenty of details):
Love the print!

Sort of has a Parisian Ralph Lauren feel, no?

Friend Friday - Shoes!

I'm joining up with Katy over at Modly Chic for my very first Friend Friday!  I always loved reading everyone else's answers to the weekly questions so I thought I would join in!

1. What is your go-to pair of shoes?
Right now, my silver Birkenstocks - it's just the way it is right now.

2. What goes into your shoe buying decisions?
Taking inventory of what I have and what I need.  I try not to have a ton of shoes around, it's too easy to forget what you have.  I also would rather have quality over quantity.

3. The majority of the shoes in your closet are what color?
There really isn't a dominant color - I try to have a good mix.  I don't want 20 pair of black shoes, don't see the point.

4. When it comes to design shoes what are your favorite brands and why?
Hands down, dollar for dollar, Prada.  They are so comfortable, well made (they should be right?), and last forever.  I LOVE that the heel part of the shoes have rubber soles so they wear well and cushion the step.  I was over the moon when Prada Sport was introduced, I had a few pair of the leather loafers that were the best shoes I have ever owned (I say "were" because again, wore them out).

5. If price wasn’t an issue, you’d own which shoe?
Oh, I've professed my love of the YSL tribtoo pump many, many times here on the ol' blog

I also wouldn't mind a pair of the Brian Atwood Rose Gold Metallic Maniac pumps.

Head on over and check out what other people have to say about...shoes!

Still digging these shoes...

It's been almost 2 years since this post and I still can't get enough of YSL's Tribtoo pumps - LOVE them!

Posting is a bit late today, had some technical glitches this morning, but everything is smooth sailing now - yay!

Favorite Post - I want this! YSL pumps

I’m currently on a family vacation - it’s actually more of a “staycation” with a few little jaunts here and there. So for this week, I decided to repost some of my favorite blog entries from the past. I’m sort of guest posting for myself – ha! If you are a long time reader, you may remember these, if not it’ll be like all new stuff! Either way, I hope you find them interesting and fun! See you back on 7/12!

Still one of my favorite pairs of shoes I've ever laid eyes on.  Now if I could only get a pair for my feet - LOL!  Originally posted 5/26/09

This YSL platform pump just may be the world's most perfect shoe. They are too fab for words. I have been swooning over these shoes forever, okay well, since I first saw them a few months ago. And now they are on sale, of course I don't have an extra $479 laying around for shoes. And sadly, I currently do not have the lifestyle to justify them. So I guess I'll keep dreaming. Ahhhhh....
*special bonus* - they have turquoise soles - double swoon!

My Take: Yves Saint Laurent Resort 2011

See my five favorite looks from this collection here, but I saved out one look for a "my take".  I picked this one out because I found it interesting as well as very wearable and simple.
Now this one may be a bit tricky if you (like me) have a fear of mixing red and purple.  Look, I know how lovely they look together, but I always feel really flashy if I try it.  But with just the belt and shoes being purple it might be a bit easier for those of us that are kind of scared.  I didn't even attempt the black turban/hat, I'm not going there :o)  Anyway, here's what I put together:

My Five - Yves Saint Laurent Resort 2011

A lovely collection full of lovely floral prints, with green, coral, fuschia and purple accents.  I really am growing fond of shorts suits, the ones in this collection are adorable.  Anyway, let's cut to the chase and get to my five favorite looks:
