On our last day in Chicago (well the western suburbs where my family lives) we went to the gorgeous little village of Geneva, IL to eat brunch. It so happened that they were having a street craft fair. It was there that I found out about the wonderful photographer Amanda Murphy. Her work is both beautiful and fun. In fact I purchased a great print of a Mr. Potato Head holding a french fry titled "You want fries with that?" for my daughter's room. Her work is really stunning, full of movement and color and life. I highly recommend that you check out her galleries here!

I just love this dining room belonging to Chicago art dealer Paul Gray and his wife Dedrea featured in June 2009's Metropolitan Home magazine. Love the light, love the huge "gems" on the table. Equal parts glamour and fun!

A much needed break!

This weekend I am headed up to Chicago to visit the family for a week. Mercifully getting out of this house for a while. We fly up Sunday, I'm extremely nervous about travelling with the 1 year old and how she's going to behave (or not). She's not the quietest child around, wonder where she gets that from? I'll be a little light on the postings next week so bear with me. I'm going to try and get some in (using my Dad's super new Mac Book Pro - awesome) but forgive me if they are sparse. I'll be back to normal speed Tuesday 7/28. Have a great next week!

First look at the Sears Tower Skydeck Ledge

Check out the new Sears Tower Skydeck ledges. Wow, I'm not sure if I would have the courage to step out on one of these. It would be very surreal. It brought to mind the time, 17 years ago (good grief I feel old), when I had the opportunity to go on the roof of the Sears Tower. I was working a summer job there when I was in college and long story short, I got to go on the roof. It was INSANE, talk about being on top of the world. I'm deathly afraid of heights, but for some reason it didn't scare me because it seemed so unreal. The only time I got a little terrified was when I looked up at the two antennae and the person I was with told me that someone actually climbs up there to change the light bulbs. One job I could never, ever do. Did I mention that it's a little windy up there? Well, it is. I still can't believe I got to do that and it was one of the coolest moments in my life.
