Ultimate Holiday Wishlist

I decided to not do gift guides this year and just make it all about me (you can still check out last year's guys & gals - most of the stuff is still valid - seriously, if you know a person who loves to grill Mangrates are a must!).  Wow, such holiday spirit, right?  I know, I know.  Sometimes it's just fun to make a list of things both crazy expensive and totally affordable that you would buy for yourself if you could.  So I thought I would share my list.

Holiday Picks! - Menorahs

Hanukkah is super early this year creating what is being called "Thanksgivukkah", which is NEXT WEEK (where has this month gone?).  I'm not Jewish, but I love menorahs. Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm sorry I've been a little M.I.A around here lately.  Between my girl being sick, me trying to get sick (I'm fighting it though), getting ready for Thanksgiving (I'm cooking!) and tons of work projects tugging at me night and day (that's what happens when you work with overseas facilities, night becomes day) - I'm beat.  I'm ready to eat and be merry this long weekend!  So Happy Thanksgiving to all my American readers.  Have a happy and safe holiday!  xoxo

Happy Halloween!

Hope everyone has a spooky day (don't eat too much candy)!  I'm zipping off to my girl's preschool for their Halloween parade and party where she will be dressed as Tinkerbell's fairy friend, Vidia (below).


Should be fun - I just love kiddos in their Halloween attire!

Happy Weekend!

I hope everyone has a happy Memorial Day weekend!

Be sure to take some time to remember and honor the men and women in our armed forces who have served and who are serving our country all over the world.

Enjoy the three day weekend and I'll see you on Tuesday!

*Picture taken by me at the USS Arizona Memorial in Honolulu.  This weekend marks the 50th anniversary of the memorial.  It's one of the most moving places I've ever been.  The USS Arizona still leaks fuel to this day, so those little oil patches you see on the surface are haunting.  Pearl Harbor survivors call those oil droplets "Black Tears".

I'm taking the rest of the year off from blogging.  I need a break, time to regroup, time to be inspired, time to have fun with family and friends, and of course time to just have one less thing on my plate during this busy time.  So I will say goodbye until 2012 (which is only 3 weeks away - eek).  I hope every single one of you has a wonderful rest of the year.  See you on the flip side!

Friend Friday - Christmas Wish List

I'm joining together with Katy over at Modly Chic again for FBFF!  Today's FBFF's topic is what's on our Christmas Lists.  Well, I always have "want" lists a mile long for any/every holiday/occasion, however this year is a little different.  I've already gotten my Christmas present. It actually was a combo Birthday/Christmas/Anniversary present from my sweet hubby - an iPad!  Now this was huge for me, since my husband and I haven't exchanged any present for any occasion for a couple of years now.

I'm in love with this sweet little gadget (that has made commenting, reading and creating so much easier)!  I got the white one and bought Apple's smart cover in orange:

Along with a clear Belkin back shield compatible with the smart cover.

There are a lot of cute iPad covers out there - but I didn't want one that zipped open, that I had to pull the gadget in and out of (too much trouble and there's the added threat of dropping and zipper scratching), and I didn't want some generic ugly case.  I wanted something that stayed as true to how you would use it as possible, with little to no added bulk/weight.  So I highly recommend this combination.  The smart cover turns it on and off (hibernates it) upon opening and closing and the back cover protects it from scratching and impact.  The only issue now is that I'm now wanting an iPhone to match- lol!


Anyway, sorry for my lack of a proper list, but that's how things go right now.  I hope you all have a lovely weekend!  I've got to get our Christmas cards ready to mail out and I checked this book out of the library today to peruse for new recipes!  I'll let you know if I find any good (easy) ones.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I Want This! - Green Handbag (Happy St. Patrick's Day!)

The idea of a green handbag has been bouncing around in my head for quite a while now.  However I've never acted on that want, I hem and haw about what color green and how much to spend, etc.  But I recently saw this picture on Pinterest (I think it's a Celine bag, but not 100% sure)...

...and I think I've decided that a midtone, almost kelly green handbag would be perfect for Spring and Summer.  So, in honor of St. Patrick's Day I've pulled some lovely green handbags.  First up, the high end, inspirational bags:


Nice, right?  But who has $1,500 to drop on a bag?  So here are my more realistic picks, all are under $150.
