Happy Halloween!

Hope everyone has a spooky day (don't eat too much candy)!  I'm zipping off to my girl's preschool for their Halloween parade and party where she will be dressed as Tinkerbell's fairy friend, Vidia (below).

My Five - Emilio Pucci Spring 2013

I just want to say that Peter Dundas continues to do amazing things at Pucci.  Gorgeous and glamorous just like the Pucci of yesteryear but he's spreading his wings by not doing as many of the signature prints and splashes of color.  This collection is a great example of this.  He's using sheer layers, embroidery and embellishment to create beautiful, almost delicate garments.  I'm really loving the dragon motifs, very cool.  Here are my (5+1) picks!

Pantone's Spring 2013 Fashion Color Report

 

Pantone has released it's Spring 2013 Fashion color report and it features a palette of colors that is dubbed "The Balancing Act".  Anchored by Monaco Blue, the colors featured are a mix of brights and more subtle neutrals.  As I've mentioned before, I'm considered a "color expert" (though I have a hard time considering anyone an expert on something so subjective, although you can be an expert on the science behind color theory), but I do have thoughts about what this palette means.  I honestly expected a yellow to be the next "color of the year" - sort of like the "lemon zest" color above, but maybe leaning more towards egg yolk.  Though the blue has much merit, I want it to be a bit more of a cobalt and not so much a navy.  I want the purple to be a bit richer (more red) too and I would have liked to see a grey represented.  These palettes/forecasts are fun and certainly designers in every industry love to look at them, but they are by no means a "bible".  So take it in and then move on with your day.

My Five - Bottega Veneta Spring 2013

A collection that was a little more feminine and flowery than the usual BV fair.  Which is not to say it wasn't very cool and chic, because it was.  Tomas Maier always uses the most interesting (and sophisticated) color palettes, this collection was full of saturated colors with a vintage feel to them, nothing jarring or blinding here.  Check out my picks:

Set Your DVR Alert!

Why on Earth am I posting a picture of The Houston family?  Well, it just happens that my brother spent his Summer working on this very show! "The Houstons: On Our Own" airs tonight at 9pm/8central on Lifetime.  Here's a preview.



It was mostly filmed in Atlanta, which was good for us because Atlanta is a whole lot closer to us than Los Angeles, which meant we got to see him more!  I'm going to be honest I'm not sure how I feel about the show, but since I know some of the behind the scenes people, I'm going to tune in.  Try it out and see for yourself.  And, sadly, no I don't have any insider information.  My brother is painfully professional and divulges nothing.  Which is great for his career but bad for my curiosity :o)

My Five - Michael Kors Spring 2013

This collection was a little mod, a little nautical, a little preppy and chock full of super wearable pieces that would integrate into most anyone's wardrobe effortlessly.  Stripes were the story of the day as well as pops of yellow, cobalt blue, red and kelly green.  A great collection to inspire your own wardrobe.  Here are my picks and trend takeaways, enjoy!

My Five - Missoni Spring 2013

This collection was kind of a departure from the "usual" "Missoni" looks.  Not as much of the traditional knitted zigs and zags.  Still colorful (after the initial all white looks), still had lots of layers, but this time the layers were floaty and (gasp) printed.  Overall I loved the color palette and it's always nice when a designer reaches outside the box and tries some new things.  Here are my picks!

What I'm Loving!

Here are a few things that I'm loving right now:

 

First up is Glade's Cashmere Woods scent.  Oh man, this is such a perfect fragrance for this time of year (as a matter of fact, about a year ago I posted a "What I'm Loving" list that included this too).  It's not sweet or spicy, it's more of a smoky/warm scent that is positively amazing.  I mean it takes me to the perfect, crisp Fall day (even when it's 80 degrees out)!  I invested in the Sense and Spray version this year, perfect!

 

Next up are my new Minnetonka Kiltie Moccasins in wine - purchased via a Shopbop giftcard giveaway win from the lovely Jessica over at Bedknobs & Baubles - a great blog check it out!

They are so comfy and go great with everything! They do run large so if you decide to get some then order a 1/2 size down.

 

Just a couple of things I'm into right now.

 

I also noticed that I'm painfully close to 100 followers!  That's a big thing, so thanks to all the new followers!  And if you aren't already following, what are you waiting for?  Ha!  I remember when I first started blogging I sat on 14 followers for months and months.  I'm slow to grow that's for sure.  Have a great Tuesday!

My Five - Louis Vuitton Spring 2013

This collection was mod, 60's awesome!  The Damier check featured heavily from small to large, mixed and matched.  Yellow, green, black, white, beige, brown and grey was the palette.  And there was not one classic monogram on anything!  I loved it and yes, now I'm craving a checked shirt (add it to the shopping list!).  Enjoy my picks!

My Five - Donna Karan Spring 2013

Once upon a time when I was a young teen I dreamed of being just like Donna Karan.  I just loved her, I loved her designs, I loved her ads, I loved the whole vibe that her brand gave off. I was mesmerized and obsessed with becoming a "Donna" woman.  That hasn't changed over the years.  I still find the idea of the "Donna" woman enchanting. Last Fall's super tailored collection was typical DK of old (anyone else remember her "seven easy pieces"?).  This collection is more DK of recent times.  A more relaxed, flowy, ethereal DK gal.  Make no mistake, it's still tailored, but in a more drapey way.  The palette was so gorgeous, soothing and sophisticated.  Hey Donna, feel free to send any of these my way!
