RIP L'Wren Scott 1967-2014

My heart just broke yesterday when the news came in that L'Wren Scott was found dead.  You see, I absolutely adored her work, ADORED it.  She had that rare combination of creating clothes that were tailored yet fluid.  She understood a woman's body and a woman's needs.  Ladylike yet sexy, using beautiful fabrics, rich colors and intricate embellishment.  And my goodness she was tall, 6'3" to be exact.  I loved that she owned that height, no slouching for this girl!  I'm sad that most people didn't really know her work outside of red carpet gowns.  I'm angry that most of the news outlets identified her as only "Mick Jagger's girlfriend" which she was, but that did not define her or give her credit for her successful career.  Mostly I'm gutted that we lost such a great talent.  My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.  Here is a lovely tribute article by Sarah Mower at Vogue.com.

RIP - Amy Winehouse

I'm sure you all know that we lost a super talented, yet very troubled young lady over the weekend.  I'm so sad. When "Back To Black" dropped here in 2006 (or was it 2007?) I ran out and bought it - well I ran to iTunes and downloaded it - it's such a great album. If you are only familiar with the song "Rehab", then I beg you to dig a little deeper and discover how truly talented this lady was. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Betsey Johnson's McQueen tribute

Even if you don't love her clothes, you gotta love Betsey Johnson.  She threw in a tribute to Alexander McQueen at the end of her Fall 2010 runway show.

RIP Alexander McQueen 1969-2010

It took me a while to do this post, when I heard the news Thursday that Lee Alexander McQueen had passed away, I was stunned.  He was a true artist, one that sculpted in fabric, leather and embellishment.  A man after my own heart, he used high tech fabrics, innovative finishes, his technique (honed on Savile Row) was impeccable - his digital prints were out of this world.  He will be missed more than words can express.  I just pray he is at peace now and my thoughts are with his family and friends.

Here are a few examples of his work - this first clip features one of my favorite McQueen runway moments - Shalom Harlow spinning on a platform while two robots spray her dress with paint.  Completely AMAZING!
