Texile nerd alert! - Unifi to be featured on CNBC

For all the textile geeks out there (like myself) Home Textiles Today is reporting that CNBC will feature Unifi's Repreve recycled polyester production on Dec 2.  Here is the article (via Home Textiles Today):

People, Planet and Profit examines the bold moves companies are making to find ways to reduce and reuse anything along the supply chain, leading to a leaner, cleaner and greener operation.

A CNBC film crew visited Unifi’s Repreve manufacturing facility in Yadkinville, N.C. on Nov. 24. The television segment will air on CNBC at 8:25 a.m. ET on Wednesday, Dec. 2, and will also be available on its website at http://www.sustainability.cnbc.com/

It would be a good watch for anyone interested in understanding how yarn production actually works along with how recycled yarn is produced (starring Poly and her sister Ester - ha!).

Southwest Airlines prototype Green airplane

Southwest introduced the prototype at it's media day on 10/21, the main goal of the Boeing 737-700 is to reduce weight by almost 5 lbs per seat, so it saves fuel and reduces emissions.  The plane will serve as a test environment for new recyclable materials and products.  I personally love the InterfaceFLOR* carpet used (great idea, I mean, how often have you gotten on a plane and that center carpet looks like crap, stained and buckled.  With FLOR you can replace the soiled section and it won't look as icky):
