Outfit Post (and why I've been M.I.A. since Friday)

I'm linking up with The Pleated Poppy today for WIWW (what I wore Wednesday) for this outfit post, it's so much fun, check it out!  Anyway, here is my one measly, sad little outfit post - my first post since Friday.  Why only one outfit today and no posts since Friday?  Well, it's a tale of woe that started Saturday morning when the stomach bug that my girl had the weekend before (you know, the one I thought I had outsmarted by not catching) reared it's ugly head and sucker punched me.  And I mean hit me hard and fast and knocked me out for 24 hours.  It was not a pretty time my friends, not a pretty time at all.  Yesterday I ate three meals for the first time since Friday.  And I'm going to be honest, the tummy is still not quite right.  But enough of that gag-worthy talk.  Here is the outfit I threw on yesterday morning before rushing out to a Dr's appt for my girl - one that we never made it to.  Why?  I'll tell you after the photos:

We went out to my car to go to the appointment and well, the darn car wouldn't start.  It just sat there mocking me while I turned the key.  Grrr.  And I couldn't reach my husband since he was at the Master's practice rounds (no phones, etc are allowed in Augusta National because it could jeapordize national security or world peace or something like that) so we just cancelled and now have to deal with my car - fun.

One perk to being stuck at home for a day, I got to play catch up (though I still have much more catching up to do from the "lost weekend").  That is all for now, I was hoping to start up a new "uniform dressing" this week, but alas that will have to wait until next.  It will be a good one though, you will want to come back and check it out!

A Little Friday DIY and Thank You's!

Is it Friday yet?  It is?  Oh, thank goodness, because it's been one heck of a long week playing catch up and miserable chilly rain with some thunder mixed in for good measure.  I'm ready for some sun and warmer temperatures - was it really just a week ago that I was sweating it out in shorts?  Welcome to Spring in the South.  Anyway, between my kiddo's barf sessions last weekend I tackled a short and sweet DIY.  I found these two remnants at Joann recently and snapped them up.

I had seen the nailhead corkboard DIY on Bryn Alexandra's blog amost a year ago and wanted to tackle it in my own home.  Since our house is on the market, I wanted to "neutralize" the inspiration board in my office area and make it seem more like art than a jumble of images that people don't really want to see that don't know me.  Here is the before:

 And here is the after (I decided not to put the nailheads on it because I'm not sure if I'm going to keep this fabric on the board when we move).

Now for the other fabric - I have a hand-me-down white wicker chair that have some pillows that just don't work.  So I just draped (for now) the fabric over the pillows to make it look prettier and blend with the room better - no one ever sits in the chair so it will stay nice and fluffy and in place.  It made all the difference in the world.  When we move I'll actually commit to a recover of the pillows ;o)

All in all, it took me probably about 45 minutes from start to finish.  Easy peasy!

My Take - Burberry Spring 2011

I loved this look from Burberry's Spring 2011 show, I love the color combination of the green top, grey pants and the turquoise clutch.  So much fun! 

I wish that I could have pulled a tunic in that exact color, but sadly I couldn't find one.  I tried to get as close as possible.  Go out and grab something in a fresh, Spring green and pair it with a pop of turquoise!  Here are two takes on this look.

The 30 for 30 is over?

If it's Wednesday, it must be outfit post day.  It's been slim pickings around here, with my girl's illness and various house projects I've been working on, I've been keeping it very casual, comfortable and washable.  But when I have dressed like a person not going to the gym, I've been revisiting my 30 for 30 items.  I just go to them again and again.  I guess that means I picked well or I have hardly any clothes in my closet.  My closet is bare bones people and will not be replenished in any way until I transition back into the working world so basically my whole life is one big 30 for 30 - ha!  (Hey, Kendi when is the Spring challenge? 'Cause I'm in!)  Anyway, here are a couple of outfits I wore in the past week.  Enjoy!

My Five - Gucci Fall 2011

Outstanding collection full of great color and color combinations, and the accessories, don't get me started - beyond gorgeous!  There were a lot of bold and bright python/python prints in this collection (just like at Prada).  I was wondering if Frida Giannini called up Miuccia Prada and had a convo about sourcing them together for a bulk discount?  Can you imagine?  (cue the fantasy music)

FG - Hi Miu, how's it going?  I was just sitting here talking to my BFF James Franco about "General Hospital" and it hit me - the Fall 2011 line should be all about python!  Not just any python, but brightly colored python.  What do you think?
MP - Obviously.
FG - Are you planning on using python for Fall?
MP - Obviously.
FG - We should totally go in together and buy it by the truckload.  I mean it's got to come to Italy anyway, right?
MP - Obviously.

O-M-G!

Seriously.  It's been one heck of a past few days here in Spryland starting with my 2 1/2 year old getting a stomach bug that was wrong on so many levels.  Luckily it lasted only 24 hours but trust me, it was one heck of a 24 hour stretch.  She may have said at one point, very seriously "I puked A LOT!".  And then these storms that have been tearing through Georgia (well, all of the Southeast), have been terrible - what the "hail" is going on?  lol!  Luckily in my neck of the woods we had no damage other than rattled nerves.  To say I'm sleep deprived would be an understatement.  Major understatement.  So I'm playing major catch up here.  Bear with me, I have some posts planned, but just need to get them up and running.  See you later, promise!

My Five - Prada Fall 2011

No outfit post today - it's been one heck of a week here in Spryland.  True confession - I have literally been in sweats for the past week, seriously.  I am a bit overwhelmed with the job search (any advice to make it less daunting?) and with the mountains of pollen we all have been sniffling, coughing and I have battled daily headaches.  It's never good when they tell you to watch out for "pollen drifts", no lie they said this on the news because it's so darn windy.  I'll be back with outfit posts next week when I'm a little more on top of things.  Now on to Prada...

This was a super interesting collection, particuarly the boots, with the trompe d'oeil shoe which I fell in love with.  It had a very 1960's flavor with a dash of 1920's thrown in, and python, lots of python.  Prada always lands in my top 5 every season for inspiration.  So here are my more than 5 picks with many detail shots - swoon.  And at the very end my personal pick from this collection.  Enjoy!
