Favorite Post - Is Karlie Kloss Everywhere or What?

I’m currently on a family vacation - it’s actually more of a “staycation” with a few little jaunts here and there. So for this week, I decided to repost some of my favorite blog entries from the past. I’m sort of guest posting for myself – ha! If you are a long time reader, you may remember these, if not it’ll be like all new stuff! Either way, I hope you find them interesting and fun! See you back on 7/12!

One of my favorite new models is Karlie Kloss and I had to do a post about how she's just everywhere now.  Recent example - she's in the Fall 2010 ads for Donna Karan and Dior:

Anyway, here's my original post from 3/2/10:
Girlfriend is all over, you can't crack open a magazine without seeing her in an ad or editorial and she has been all over the runways this year.  I'm not complaining though, she kind of reminds me of the supermodels of the past.  She is a Model, you know the type, the girls who move and pose so elegantly that their pictures are divine. She's only 17 (which means she was born after I graduated from High School - oh dear) so I have a feeling we'll be seeing lots more of her in the future.

Just a couple runway examples.

Favorite Post - I want this! - a trench with orange buttons

I love when I spot a trend that you can incorporate into your life right now, perhaps with items of clothing that are already in your closet (and you can modify easily for a quick update).  This was one of those times.  Still loving it!  Originally posted 2/8/10:
I've noticed a small trend going on - trench coats with orange buttons - and I love 'em!

The good thing about this look (if you like it) is that you can either take the trench you already have (or just get an inexpensive one), hunt down some orange buttons and switch them out.

These I found online at M&J Trimming.

Hmmmm.  Turquoise buttons would look pretty nice too, or kelly green ones, the list goes on and on.  What do you think?

Happy July 4th Weekend!

Wow, I can't believe July has already started and July 4th is upon us!  I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend and holiday full of food, family and fun!  In honor of the occassion I put together a couple of outfits I wouldn't mind wearing to celebrate.  And yes, I went a little literal with red, white and blue and a bit of a beach/nautical theme too, but I don't care I love it and it's fun!

We are on vacation next week, it’s actually more of a “staycation” with a few little jaunts here and there, nothing terribly exciting.  So in my absence next week, I decided to repost some of my favorite blog entries from the past. I’m sort of guest posting for myself – ha!  If you are a long time reader, you may remember these, if not it’ll be like all new posts!  Either way, I hope you find them interesting and fun! My Five - Jonathan Saunders Resort 2011

When I think of Jonathan Saunders, I think of color blocking (it's what I remember about the first collection of  his I saw).  This collection goes beyond that, with floral prints - really interesting floral prints.  Mostly a neutral palette with very subtle uses of color here and there.  My five picks are:

My Take: Gucci Resort 2011

Yesterday morning I posted my five favorite looks from Gucci's Resort 2011 line.  I saved one look (or two - stay tuned *wink-wink*) for a "my take":
I have two versions, one using the Tory Burch sweater from a previous "my take" for cooler days and one with a flowy chiffon cardigan for hotter days.  Either way, the grey top and orange/brown of the shorts are a great foundation and color combination.
