My Five - Chanel Resort 2013

I'm going to risk any future invites to Chanel shows with this little review but hey, that's a chance I'm willing to take (ha ha).  All I have to say is "What the hell?"  Like seriously, can someone tell Karl to stop.  Enough with the goofy menswear!  Just because something is Chanel doesn't mean it's good.  There I said it.  And the shoes in this collection, look after look of platform, fugly sneakers.  Shoot me now.  I don't drink the Karl kool aid.  I respect him as a designer (the man is crazy productive) but I absolutely think he's a nutball.  He's one of those weird creative genius types that kind of scare you because they are so out of touch and live in their heads.  But that's not to take away from the incredibly talented team he has at Chanel.  The people that actually make the clothes he thinks up.  No matter how outlandish the creations may be, there is no question that they are impeccably made using only the finest materials.  So here are my picks from this impeccably made yet head-scratching collection.

Don't Forget!

Tune in tonight for the season premiere of "Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles" on Bravo 9pm Eastern/8pm Central!  Why do I care, you ask?*
*my brother works on the show and from what I hear you can catch a peak of him in the first episode, something about yoga on a rooftop and he's the only dude.  Keep an eye out!

Various Fall 2012 picks

It's not even officially Summer yet, but I'm going to wrap up my Fall 2012 collection coverage with various picks.  Bring on Resort 2013 (which I've already started digging into with Bottega Veneta and Oscar de la Renta)!
Love the colors here and the metallic accents in a sort of leopard pattern.  Take note of the sheen.

Nice but sheesh I'm so tired of this goth, moody vibe from Versace.  I want Donatella to think about a little more than what she would wear 24/7.  Love certain pieces but then it's gets so repetitive (like fashion "white noise").  Snore.

Lots o' lace and brocade.  I really want the late 1990's/early 2000's D&G back.  Sigh.

My Five - Giambattista Valli Fall 2012

Ahh, great mixture of textures and prints in this collection.  I love how he layered printed sheer fabrics on top of each other creating depth and pattern, just gorgeous.  Lots of greys, black, white, red, orange and an outstanding gold crocodile.  Here are my picks, enjoy!

My Five - Valentino Fall 2012

A very "folksy" collection, not hippie folksy more of a milk-the-cow folksy.  I think you can take away a few things from this collection - leather, scalloping and a dash of embroidery (fair isle, flowers and such).  Trust me scalloping will be big come Fall then rolling into next year.  Here are my picks:

My Five - Christian Dior Fall 2012

I'm not going to lie, I've been hard on the house of Dior since the departure of Galliano (after his boneheaded meltdown - jerk).  I was a huge fan of Galliano's way of fusing the past with the future while always keeping the essence of what the Dior brand is.  After he was shown the door things went way downhill.  But the tides have turned with this collection, at least in my mind.  Bill Gaytten and his team seem to have found their footing.  The ballet inspired collection was very "Dior" and that made my heart sing.  The color palette was so lux. You know how some colors come off as garish and cheap, but with a tweak suddenly turn into something that seems so posh that you want to run out and get everything you can in those colors?  Well this collection did that for me.  I love the dove greys, the soft peaches (not 1980's peach!), that muted purple that is so elegant.  I want to wear nothing but these colors this fall.  Here are my many picks, enjoy!
This picture really embodies the color mix in this collection that rocked my world.

This fabric is fab-u-lous, it appears to be some sort of mohair damask deal.  I wish I could see it up close.  The fuzzy, matte with the shine is fabulous.  And I'm not even going to address that necklace that I want NOW!

I need this dress.  Just to wear.

The ballet slipper inspired shoes.  LOVE!

Another great example of color mix.

Subtle large-scale houndstooth created with textures.  Amazing!
