Happy Weekend!

Hope your week was positive and productive!  It's finally Friday and I know I'm ready for the weekend.  I've been totally wrapped up in the Olympics, I've been watching every single night, just riveted.  And so far I'm totally captivated/inspired/proud of these ladies:

Misty May Trainor and Kerri Walsh
(I love that even though they've won so many gold medals and been to so many Olympic games, they're not jaded and are excited to be there.  Love them!)

And I'm totally stoked to see these ladies start their competitions!

What can I say?  I'm crazy about the Olympics!  How about you all, are you tuning in?  Also, I should note that after watching all these athletes (male and female), I'm now on a quest for the return of my 6 pack abs that have been hidden for a few years now ;o)

Have a great weekend!

My Five - Chado Ralph Rucci Resort 2013

Following my post about the Ralph Rucci exhibit at SCAD earlier this week, I figured I would share my picks from Chado Ralph Rucci's Resort 2013 collection!  My picks may not reflect it, but this collection was all about color.  Clear, vivid, bright colors ranging from red to pink to yellow to purple and even some mint for good measure.  Obviously black, white and neutrals are well represented too!  The silhouettes ranged from crisp and tailored to flowy.  Again, Mr. Rucci's genius is that he designs not just for the young and not just for the more mature ladies, but for every woman.  For that reason I thank him.  Here are my picks!  Enjoy!

I need this dress in my life now!

What I Bought on Vacation

Okay it's been a little heavy on what I've purchased lately here on the ol' blog, but I love to share what I have purchased (especially if I like it a lot)!  Here are the two items I bought from the Marc by Marc Jacobs store in Savannah.  I really wanted to go to that store during our swing through Savannah.  I had done a bit of preliminary hunting on some affordable options that I could get while I was there and this rubber bracelet fit the bill!  My dear friend has one in pink and highly recommended it.  They didn't have a ton of them in the store and in only a few colors, but the blue fit the bill for me.  And for $28 you can't beat it!
It's so lightweight and easy to wear, I totally recommend it!  It looks like separate links but it's really just one piece of molded rubber.  Here are some of the color options available:

While I was in the store I found this cute skull necklace that I fell in love with (what is up with me and skulls lately?) and at $10 I snapped it up!  This must be an in-store only option because I haven't found it online from MJ.
Since it's not available online, I found some affordable alternatives:

While we were in Hilton Head I headed to the outlets one day and picked up these goodies from J.Crew.  Bonus, they were having an extra 50% off of all sale items that day so the three pieces below cost me $30!  Awesome!
Yellow tee
Trouser jeans - similar
White bermuda shorts

So my total vacation shopping cost a grand total of $68!

Museum Report - Ralph Rucci Exhibit at SCAD

I'm finally going to share my pictures and thoughts about the "Looking Back to the Future: Ralph Rucci Evolved" exhibit at the Andre Leon Talley Gallery at the SCAD museum in Savannah during my vacation!  First of all I should say that I'm a huge Ralph Rucci fan, I believe he's one of the top 5 designers working today.  His work is so precise and the details are so impressive.  I'm even more impressed having seen the work up close.  The workmanship blows my mind.  So many parts coming together to create these breathtaking garments.  I love his structure and tailoring, the subtle and not so subtle embellishments, and the mix of materials used and how they marry in one garment and/or look.  But enough of my rambling, I'll let the pictures talk for themselves, enjoy!

Here's the list of all the looks in the exhibit:

Please excuse the quality of the photos, I left the house without my camera and just had my daughter's iTouch - duh. I'm still kicking myself.

Recent Purchases

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a great weekend!  I watched a lot of Olympic action (mixed in with a few episodes of Hoarders - why do I do that?  It's usually upsetting and I just don't know why I torture myself).  Anyway did you catch any of the women's gymnastics last night?  My heart was breaking for Jordyn Wieber.  Of course that's what makes the Olympics compelling, the highs and the lows - really it's all about the competitor's stories.

Moving on, I wanted to share a few purchases that I made while I was m.i.a.  A little background, I have a rather strict budget and generally I don't make a lot of extraneous purchases.  Certainly not like the pre-kid and working full time days when I had a lot more wiggle room in the "wants" part of the budget.  Ahhh, memories.  Well, I had just signed up to BaubleBar (when you sign up you get a $10 credit!  So if you haven't signed up yet head on over and do it!).  My friend emailed me a blog post (which I can't find so I can't give a proper shout out) that featured this skull bracelet from BaubleBar!
Aren't they so cute?  And at $20 each not too bad, but remember I had a $10 credit so it would only be $10! Sold!  I got the blue and silver one second from the bottom. And I love it!

I also had a $25 Amazon gift card burning a hole in my pocket so I (finally) got the Alexander McQueen book from the Savage Beauty exhibit at The Met.  Let me just say this is one gorgeous book, worth every penny (which was only $6.50 after using my gift card)!
I'm seeing a bit of a skull trend here...hmmm.

I'd say all of this was $16.50 well spent!

Happy Weekend!

I LOL'ed when I saw this picture on Facebook - Absolutely Fabulous is one of my favorite shows ever!  Can you imagine Patsy and Edina at the Olympics?

Oh man, I'm so happy it's Friday I can't even tell you.  I've been a bit M.I.A. because life has been completely insane over the past two weeks.  My girl fell down and gashed her head open resulting in three stitches in the forehead, I've had two business trips and a muscle spasm in my neck that made me immobile for a day and I'm still sore - talk about a pain in the neck - ba dum dum.  Anyway, I'm hoping for a little R&R this weekend and watching lots of Olympic action!  I'll be watching non-stop, I love it that much.  How about you, are you planning on tuning in?  Have a great weekend and see you next week!

Images via random Facebook postings - though I did get the Patsy and Edina picture via George Takei's FB page.  He's so funny!

I'm Back (with a peek at my adventures)!

While I was taking my "blogcation", we took a fab vacation to Hilton Head, SC and I spent some time working at my actual job (what? I don't get paid tons of money to write this small-time blog? Shockingly I don't - ha!) and getting some things we need into and out of the storage unit - no small feat let me tell you. I'm playing catch up today after our vacation so in the meantime here's a sneak peek at what we did. I'll have a review of the Ralph Rucci exhibit at SCAD too - hint, it was amazing.
