My Five - Prada Spring 2013

Not gonna lie, this collection was pretty awesome in my opinion.  Again, Miuccia loves a theme and this time it's a little Japanese mixed with a little late '60's flower power.  Lots of black and white, punched up with dashes of red and green.  And the shoes, well, you will be seeing them in every magazine I'm sure.  They are not the most practical, but they do mesmerize.  Love it or hate it, you will see a trickle down in trends.  Here are my picks:

Now for a closer look at the shoes:

And of course the handbags:

My Five - Reed Krakoff Spring 2013

All of Reed Krakoff's collections are a study in understated, unfussy luxury.  And this collection is no different, although it's a bit more "sporty" than his usual offerings.  Love his mixture of leathers and fabrics of all textures and weights, pairing the "light" with the "heavy".  Here are my picks:

Trend takeaways:
1.  Shorts! Not too long, not too short.
2. Camel and other almost peachy neutrals.
3.  Mix fancy with sporty.

My Five - Giles Spring 2013

Ah, I always love a Giles show, on one hand it's always full of fun and whimsy, on the other hand it has a sort of dark undertone.  Almost like a Tim Burton movie.  He keeps me coming back for more (check out my favorite Giles collection here).  In this collection I adored the recurring shattered glass motif - it shows up in various prints, cut leather, beading and even in some of the hairpieces.  Here are my favorites!

Trend takeaways:
1. Edgy in a fun way - think pairing a cartoon shirt with a very structured suit and heels.
2. A bright pink lip

My Five - Altuzarra Spring 2013

I found Altuzarra's collection very interesting with it's mix of tailored separates with splashes of embellishment and print mixing.  I love the casual yet fancy vibe it give off.  Here are my picks!

Trend takeaways:
1.  Touches of cobalt blue (yet again)
2. Strappy, gladiator-esque shoes
3. Fringe

My Five - J.Crew Spring 2013

Don't act like you haven't seen looks from this collection already on every other blog (or it seems that way at least).  I don't usually post any J.Crew coverage just because everyone else in the blogosphere does it incessantly.  But I did love a few looks in this collection and wanted to let you all know what stood out for me (nope those green flower printed pants didn't make it - though they would make amazing drapes).  Here are my picks!

Trends to take away:
1.  Subtle, yet bold graphic printed tops with tailored separates
2. More saturated pastels paired together
3.  Cobalt blue sticking around
4. Unique prints make a statement

My Five - Victoria, Victoria Beckham Spring 2013

I started the week with Victoria Beckham and I'm going to end the week with some more Victoria Beckham.  Victoria is VB's lower priced (relatively speaking) dress line and the Spring collection was all about short and flirty.  I loved the purples, prints and just overall vibe.  I could have done without the shoes though (they seemed a little clunky/heavy with some of the dresses, no?).  Anyway, here are my picks and trend takeaways, enjoy!

Trend takeaways:
1. Purple
2. Orange accents
3.  One statement bangle

My Five - Chado Ralph Rucci Spring 2013

I was so over neon and/or neonish colors until this collection.  Ralph Rucci uses these intense colors in the most sophisticated way.  A touch here, a splash there, without being cheesy or overwhelming.  I'm a very outspoken fan of Mr. Rucci and the couture quality of his designs, the construction and fabrics used are top notch.  Here are my picks and trend takeaways, enjoy!

Loving the pop of pink!

This dress is simply breathtaking!
Trend takeaways from this collection:
1.  Intense pinks and oranges.
2.  Intense colors used as accents with solid black or white ensembles (think a shirt, belt or shoes)
3. Ladylike slingback pumps with no platform.

My Five - Chris Benz Spring 2013

Mr. Benz is the print mix-master.  This collection was full of his signature bold prints and fearless use of color and texture.  At first glance it can be intimidating and overwhelming with all the stuff going on, but the more you look at it the more it works.  Sure you may not take a piece and wear it as shown below, but I love how he is so out of the box that it may inspire you to mix up your own wardrobe in cool and unexpected ways.  Here are my picks!

Trend take aways from this collection:
1. Orange is sticking around
2. Mix geometric and organic prints
3. Floral prints
