What I Bought - September 2013

A little change to the list, I decided to include my beauty purchases every month from here on out.  That's what made me go nuts this month - the beauty purchases.  As I'm getting older, my skin is changing and I'm trying to tweak what I'm using to find the right mix.  So I'm trying out a few new items to see what works for my soon-to-be-40-year-old-skin.

1. Coldwater Creek top - $44.45 (on sale, includes tax and shipping. Also backordered until late October - boo)
2.  Johnny Cupcakes tee (limited edition, no longer available) - $33.81 (including discount and shipping)
3. Coldwater Creek top - $12.86 (on sale, includes tax and shipping)
4.  L'Oreal True Match foundation - $7.49 (had -$1.50 coupon)
5.  Shamanuti Activated Charcoal Cleanser - $14.00 (includes shipping)
6.  Benefit Fakeup - $24
9.  Gap button down - $10 (Uptown Cheapskate)
10.  Gap trouser jeans - $8 (Uptown Cheapskate)

Total = $201.61
- $18 (Uptown Cheapskate credit from selling)
- $57.31 (Coldwater Creek giftcard)
Total spent out of pocket - $126.30

Go forth and shop responsibly!

Since I've been doing some major closet cleaning, I've listed a ton of stuff on Poshmark (good stuff too, like Tory Burch, Ray-Ban, L.A.M.B., Michael Kors, etc).  Check it out!

Boscia Konjac Cleansing Sponge Review

At the beginning of this month I wandered into Sephora and picked up some new things (stay tuned to what I got on Monday's "What I Bought" September post).  I've been hearing a lot about Konjac sponges lately and I wanted to give one a try.  I mean, who couldn't use a little all natural, gentle exfoliation?  So I snapped up Boscia's version for $18.

Okay, first when you get it out of the box, it's hard as a rock.  But once you run it under water it gets bigger (about the size of your palm) and much softer.  Once you get it softened up, squeeze a little of your cleanser on (this version does come with a small packet of Boscia's cleanser to try too).  Then just rub on your face to cleanse and gently exfoliate.  When you are finished, rinse it out and hang it up - it comes with a handy built-in string to hang up so it can air dry between uses.  It's super soft and very gentle, so I was a little skeptical that it was doing anything.  But I was pleasantly surprised at how clean my face was.  I use Retin-A every other day and sometimes I get pesky peeling skin in spots and this takes care of exfoliating that without irritating.  I've been using it nightly for almost a month and I must say I love it!  I was sort of hoping this would drive the thought of my "needing" a Clarisonic out of my mind, but sadly (for my pocketbook) I still would like one for once or twice a week deep cleaning.

Overall, I would highly recommend this!  Has anyone else tried this or any of the other Konjac sponges?  Here's Kimberlee's review of the Julep version.

Also, I've been doing a MEGA closet clean out and have listed a bunch of stuff on Poshmark (spryonthewall).  Click on the box below to check out all the goodies!

Have a great weekend!!

This isn't a sponsored post or anything, I just really love this product and wanted to share!

Wishlist - Fisherman Knit Sweater

1. MICHAEL Michael Kors / 2. Arizona / 3. LOFT / 4. Liz Claiborne / 5. BDG /
6. Liz Claiborne / 7. Topshop / 8. Tommy Bahama / 9. Old Navy / 10. Topshop

I love a fisherman sweater for the fall.  I used to have a great one from Target years ago.  That one is long gone, but lately I've been thinking about getting a new one.  It's perfect for mixing with denim, khakis or even a sleek pencil skirt for the office (#3 would be great for that).  Are fisherman sweaters on your radar for Fall?

My Take - J.Crew Silver Oxfords

I was flipping through the latest J.Crew catalog Style Guide and fell hard for these silver oxfords, but at $258 they are a little pricey.  So I tracked down a couple of lower priced alternatives.
Top - J.Crew
Right - Bass

What do you think? Any interest in some shiny, silver shoes for Fall?

Best Dressed - Emmys 2013

I'm going to jump on the Emmy bandwagon this morning.  I only saw a little of the pre-show red carpet and what I saw I didn't really like.  And I didn't even watch the broadcast - kind of over awards shows themselves, but not the red carpet.  I always like to see fancy dresses on display!  Here are my best dressed picks!
Christina Hendricks, in Christian Siriano, and an Edie Parker clutch (I LOVE these clutches here is my favorite one)
(her hair, obsessed with her hair!)

Allison Williams, in Ralph Lauren

Kiernan Shipka, in Delpozo

Mindy Kaling, in Edition by Georges Chakra

Julianna Margulies, in Reed Krakoff

Alyson Hannigan, in Marchesa
(love a redhead in purple)

Padma Lakshmi, in Kaufmanfranco

Who did you all like the best?  I'm still updating my Spring 2014 Pinterest board, Milan is in full swing.

Spring 2014 NYFW Trend - Line Drawing

Last but not least, this trend is pretty self explanatory.  It can be fun sketches or more intricate patterns with a very clean sophistication.  I love it!  Make sure you keep checking out my Spring 2014 Pinterest board for my latest picks (London and now Milan)!

Spring 2014 NYFW Trend - Color

Here are the trends that everyone gets jazzed about - the color trends!  I'm going to say (again) that cobalt is sticking around (yay)!  Some other familiar colors from seasons past make an appearance too (orange, the dash of lime/neon green/yellow, green).  The biggest emerging color trend I see is purple, which is represented in all of it's incarnations from almost-blue to almost-burgundy.  Purple is tricky.  In my experience, people have very strong reactions to it.  They either love or hate it, rarely is a person indifferent.  Without further ado, here are the Spring 2014 NYFW color trends:

Are you excited about these? How do you feel about the purple trend?  Make sure you keep checking out my Spring 2014 Pinterest board for my latest picks (London is off to a fabulous start)!  Tomorrow we tackle another trend.

Spring 2014 NYFW Trend - Layers

As promised, this week I'm going to bring you some trends from New York Fashion Week that I think are important and most of all, relevant to us "regular" gals (yes, crop tops are a trend, but not one that many of us can pull off in our office/Mom/non-size-0 lives).  First up, layers.  More specifically, sheer layers.  The most relevant and wearable part of this trend are the sheer jackets, which I'm kind of digging.
What do you think?  Tomorrow we tackle another trend!

Happy Weekend! Spring 2014 NYFW Trends Next Week!

I've been pinning day and night and now that NYFW is basically at an end, my Spring 2014 Pinterest board is up-to-date.  I've been sifting through all of the information and coming up with some trends.  Good news, it looks like all of the Resort 2014 trends I highlighted earlier, are sticking around (snakeskin, windowpane, color, Birkenstock-like slides, sweatshirts) yay!  There are a few emerging trends too.  I'll have a roundup of all of those next week, just in time for London Fashion Week!

Oh and in case you missed it Jimmy Kimmel did a great "Lie Witness News" segment interviewing people outside of Lincoln Center, asking them about made up fashion designers.  It is hilarious!  Enjoy and have a great weekend!

My Take - Rihanna Casual Chic

I'm going to mix things up a little and pop in with a celebrity "my take".  Ever since I first saw this picture of Rihanna I've been in love with the mix of super casual (sweatshirt - trend!) and fancy (jeweled necklace and heels).  Of course this mix isn't groundbreaking, but it really works!
1. Vince Camuto Sweatshirt / 2. Fornash necklace / 3. Audrey Brooke pumps / 4. Style & Co. clutch / 5. LOFT jeans

September Wishlist & Updates

Must bee the "back-to-school" vibe going on right now, but I am craving some retail therapy.  Here are the things I wish I could run out and buy today (sadly, that's not going to happen, but a girl can dream and blog about it!)

1.  Gap pants / 2.  J.Crew tunic sweater / 3. Gap sweater / 4. Vince pumps
5. Gap loafers / 6. Vince flats

On a side note we just got a SodaStream Source (in black) and we are LOVING it!  Anyone else have one?  I did get most of my closet cleaned out and am working on getting stuff posted to Poshmark (spryonthewall). I'm nervous because I've not tried it before, but I hear good things.  Are you on it?  Leave your user name and I'll follow you.

I'll be updating the Spring 2014 Pinterest board all weekend with my favorite looks from NYFW.  I've also updated the "Books I've Read" page with some fab reads!  Have a great weekend!
