Blue Nile Necklace Giveaway!

Disclosure: I received a necklace for purposes of review. All opinions are my own.

Recently, Blue Nile contacted me to do a review and giveaway for one of their pieces of jewelry as part of their "Get One, Give One" campaign, and I jumped on it.  I mean I remember when I purchased my wedding band from them over 9 years ago(!).  Their quality is top notch.  I had a choice of a few pieces but decided that the Branch Necklace in sterling silver was perfect!
I love how delicate and pretty it is.  It's perfect for everyday wear!  I have really been moving away from bold "statement" necklaces and more towards smaller, simpler, more understated pieces and this fits the bill.

Make sure you check out Blue Nile's other jewelry goodies, there's really something for everyone!

Like I said before, they gave me one of these beautiful necklaces to give away to my readers!  Just enter with the rafflecopter below.  Open to USA and Canada only. Good luck!

FabFitFun Winter Box Review

I had kind of given up on all the various subscription boxes (I used to get Sample Society's box every month), but gave up on them when I found I just had more than I could possibly use,  I mean I still have perfume samples I haven't even touched.  It just got to be too much.  But when I found out about Giuliana Rancic's FabFitFun seasonal boxes and all the positive reviews, I decided to jump on board as a little birthday treat for myself.  The cost is $49.99 per box (four times a year) but I used a discount code they had on the website for $5 off so I ended up with this box costing $44.99.  The Winter box was delivered yesterday:

I was so pleased with everything in the box!  Here's the rundown on what was inside:
1. The Giving Keys Never Ending Necklace - $55 ($45 style here)
2. TruEnergy Earbuds - $39.99 (I actually needed new earbuds so this was a major score)
3. Simple Foaming facial cleanser - $7.49
4. Bioxidea Miracle 24 mask - $19
5. Skyn Iceland Icelandic relief eye cream - $45 (I am a HUGE fan of this eye cream)
6. Beauty For Real lip gloss - $22 (the color I got was "Don't Stop Red")
7. Lorna Jane Bracelet - $29.99
8. NYX Eye Shadow Palette - $8 (I got the Ciao Bella palette - it's gorgeous)
9. MeUndies Gift Card - $20
10. Five Physique 57 online classes - $25

For a grand total value of $271.47!  I'll be sticking around for the Spring box for sure!

What I Bought - October 2013

Extremely lean month when it comes to buying clothing, only one shirt (and it's mostly just to knock around the house in - but, I love Regular Show and had a coupon so I couldn't resist).
Regular Show tee from Target - $11 (with coupon)

Total spent out of pocket = $11

I've been in purge mode, trying to get rid of everything that no longer fits, looks good, or relevant to my life. The good news is I sold $174 worth of stuff on Poshmark.  The bad news is I've still got a bunch of stuff still on the site ready for buyers ;)  Stay tuned, I'm planning on doing a little closet inventory and sharing it.

Go forth and shop responsibly!

And while my clothing purchases were slim, don't think I wasn't dropping some coin somewhere.  I kind of went a little Etsy crazy this month. I decided to share because it's fun to discover new Etsy finds.  I'm working on some gallery walls for me and my girl so that explains the picture overload.

9. Wet Bag - $14
10. Two washcloths - $4

Total spent on Etsy - $114.58 (includes shipping)

40th Birthday (Fantasy) Wishlist

In exactly one month I turn 40.  Deep breaths. I know it's just a number, but let me tell you youngsters out there, the older you get, the less you feel your age.  I mean I still feel 25.  I can't possibly be 40, that's old (well, not anymore)!  I keep asking myself, aren't I supposed to feel more "mature", more "together", be more "successful", I should have things figured out by now, right?  Nope!  Does anyone ever feel like they have it all figured out? Probably not, but the good news is, as you get older the less you care about having "it figured out" and the more you just want to be true to yourself and do what you enjoy.  You are better able to understand trade-offs and compromise.  I work from home part-time which doesn't mean I rake in the money, but it does allow me flexibility to be there for our daughter when she gets home from school and tagging along on field trips with her class.  A compromise that I'm totally okay with at this time in my life.  But that doesn't mean I still don't wish I could run out and buy some serious luxury items.  I've been doing a lot of online browsing and dreaming lately, so I decided to create a total fantasy 40th birthday wish list.  If I had unlimited funds I would snag any (or all) of these goodies!

1. Signed copy of "Decades: A Century of Fashion" by (my online friend) Cameron Silver / 2.Vince shoes / 3. Victoria Beckham tote / 4. Prada Marfa photograph by Kristin Kirkley  / 5.  3.1 Phillip Lim tote / 6.  3.1 Phillip Lim 31-hour bag

What about you? Any pie-in-the-sky items on your wish list?  Have a great weekend!

What I Wore Wednesday 10-9-2013

Seriously, I have been slacking off in the dressing department lately. I've been heavily into decluttering, cleaning and just lazy about getting dolled up.  So I've been heavy into yoga pants/tee shirt combos.  Hey, give me a break :o)  Here's one outfit I wore in the past week.

Tee - Target
Pants - Gap
Shoes - MaxStudio
Bag - DVF for LeSportsac (extremely old)

My Take - Celine Spring 2014 Handbag

Top: Celine Spring 2014

Celine always introduces serious "it" bags every season.  For the recent Spring 2014 collection, this geometric-shaped handle bag was featured heavily.  Of course it's going to be extremely pricey (duh), but I like the idea of the gold, geometric handle playing against the black leather.  I ran across this gorgeous Jonathan Adler tote that I think is a pretty awesome alternative.

The Jockey Collection, preferred by Rachel Zoe Review

Recently, I was given the opportunity to try out several products from The Jockey Collection, preferred by Rachel Zoe.  Needless to say I was super excited!  I'm always on the lookout for undergarments that are comfortable and/or have some smoothing benefits.  First, I was completely impressed by the quality of the fabrics, which were well made and super soft.  I washed them before wearing (duh) and after wearing them, I must say how impressed I am about how soft and comfortable the collection is.  If you think Jockey just makes "granny panties" then read on, you will be surprised!

Here's what I received and my thoughts on each one.

Boyshort in black.  This one I was seriously afraid would just ride up all day.  I've worn other (more expensive) similar styles and had to throw them away after just one wear because they were so uncomfortable.  But these were totally different, they absolutely stayed in place.  Let's just say the fabric makes the difference, this had better fabric for movement and better stretch for staying power.  And no pantylines because of the clean edges!  I was totally impressed!

Hip Hugger in black.  These are so cute, the fabric combination is great.  They are on par with anything Victoria's Secret makes, maybe cuter and more comfortable!  I like that they are sexy but with coverage.

Skimmies Slipshort in jet gray.  This was the product that I fell in love with!  Look, I'm a little older and need the smoothing features of these type of products, however most of the ones out there are super thick and can make you so hot - not in a good way.  These are so different, you get the smoother silhouette but not the feeling of being constricted and sweaty.  They breathe and are so, so comfortable (no digging or rolling around the waist).  They are by far my favorite!  I will be buying more!

Strappy Tank (mine was in white).  I had really high hopes for this and I liked it, but had a few issues.  I really like the middle slimming panel, it works beautifully, but wished the fabric on the top and bottom was a little thicker and held it's shape a bit better.  The straps were stretched out after wearing for a while (wishing they were adjustable).  Because I had the white, I felt I really couldn't wear it as a tank with just an open blazer, cardigan, etc due to the sheerness of the top panel.  The white is most certainly a layering piece, not to be worn on it's own.  I'm curious how the darker colors are in comparison.

Overall, I was really impressed and would recommend these highly (especially the Skimmies Slipshorts which are outstanding).  Jockey makes high quality products and these are no different.  I can't stress how soft and gorgeous the fabrics are and how modern the cuts are as well.  A great outfit starts with great fitting (and comfortable) undergarments, The Jockey Collection, preferred by Rachel Zoe fits the bill!

Thanks to Conde Nast Style Society, Jockey and Rachel Zoe for this opportunity!

Disclosure:  I was sent products for purpose of review, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

A little change to the list, I decided to include my beauty purchases every month from here on out.  That's what made me go nuts this month - the beauty purchases.  As I'm getting older, my skin is changing and I'm trying to tweak what I'm using to find the right mix.  So I'm trying out a few new items to see what works for my soon-to-be-40-year-old-skin.

Boscia Konjac Cleansing Sponge Review

At the beginning of this month I wandered into Sephora and picked up some new things (stay tuned to what I got on Monday's "What I Bought" September post).  I've been hearing a lot about Konjac sponges lately and I wanted to give one a try.  I mean, who couldn't use a little all natural, gentle exfoliation?  So I snapped up Boscia's version for $18.

Okay, first when you get it out of the box, it's hard as a rock.  But once you run it under water it gets bigger (about the size of your palm) and much softer.  Once you get it softened up, squeeze a little of your cleanser on (this version does come with a small packet of Boscia's cleanser to try too).  Then just rub on your face to cleanse and gently exfoliate.  When you are finished, rinse it out and hang it up - it comes with a handy built-in string to hang up so it can air dry between uses.  It's super soft and very gentle, so I was a little skeptical that it was doing anything.  But I was pleasantly surprised at how clean my face was.  I use Retin-A every other day and sometimes I get pesky peeling skin in spots and this takes care of exfoliating that without irritating.  I've been using it nightly for almost a month and I must say I love it!  I was sort of hoping this would drive the thought of my "needing" a Clarisonic out of my mind, but sadly (for my pocketbook) I still would like one for once or twice a week deep cleaning.

Overall, I would highly recommend this!  Has anyone else tried this or any of the other Konjac sponges?  Here's Kimberlee's review of the Julep version.

Also, I've been doing a MEGA closet clean out and have listed a bunch of stuff on Poshmark (spryonthewall).  Click on the box below to check out all the goodies!

Have a great weekend!!

This isn't a sponsored post or anything, I just really love this product and wanted to share!

Wishlist - Fisherman Knit Sweater

1. MICHAEL Michael Kors / 2. Arizona / 3. LOFT / 4. Liz Claiborne / 5. BDG /
6. Liz Claiborne / 7. Topshop / 8. Tommy Bahama / 9. Old Navy / 10. Topshop

I love a fisherman sweater for the fall.  I used to have a great one from Target years ago.  That one is long gone, but lately I've been thinking about getting a new one.  It's perfect for mixing with denim, khakis or even a sleek pencil skirt for the office (#3 would be great for that).  Are fisherman sweaters on your radar for Fall?

My Take - J.Crew Silver Oxfords

I was flipping through the latest J.Crew catalog Style Guide and fell hard for these silver oxfords, but at $258 they are a little pricey.  So I tracked down a couple of lower priced alternatives.
Top - J.Crew
Right - Bass

What do you think? Any interest in some shiny, silver shoes for Fall?

Best Dressed - Emmys 2013

I'm going to jump on the Emmy bandwagon this morning.  I only saw a little of the pre-show red carpet and what I saw I didn't really like.  And I didn't even watch the broadcast - kind of over awards shows themselves, but not the red carpet.  I always like to see fancy dresses on display!  Here are my best dressed picks!
Christina Hendricks, in Christian Siriano, and an Edie Parker clutch (I LOVE these clutches here is my favorite one)
(her hair, obsessed with her hair!)

Allison Williams, in Ralph Lauren

Kiernan Shipka, in Delpozo

Mindy Kaling, in Edition by Georges Chakra

Julianna Margulies, in Reed Krakoff

Alyson Hannigan, in Marchesa
(love a redhead in purple)

Padma Lakshmi, in Kaufmanfranco

Who did you all like the best?  I'm still updating my Spring 2014 Pinterest board, Milan is in full swing.
