Book Review - "Dune Road" by Jane Green (#5 - 2016)

Dune Road by Jane Green

I always love a Jane Green novel.  She's one of my absolute favorites, her books are fun, easy to read, and perfect for the beach, vacation or just a pick-me-up.  This was a solid read.  It centers on Kit, recently divorced, former wealthy Wall Street wife with the posh life.  She's settling into her new life in her dream house (small and quaint), her kids are happy, she has a good relationship with her ex, and she just landed her ideal job, assisting a famous, yet reclusive novelist.  But a surprise visitor rocks her world and sets off a string of events that will change everything.  It's a story about friendship and relationships.  And I really enjoyed it!  I'm anxiously waiting on her next novel out later this year.

Book Review - "Spirit's Key" by Edith Cohn (#4 - 2016)

Spirit's Key by Edith Cohn

I picked up this book because the author went to my university (NC State) and it looked interesting.  It's a kids chapter book (ages 9-12), so it's really easy to read and nothing too deep or complicated.  Spirit is the main character, she's 12 years old and hopes that she has inherited the family gift - the ability to see a person's future when they hold a key belonging to that person.  She and her father live on a remote island, in a small village.  The island has wild dogs, dogs who the locals think are dangerous.  Spirit had adopted one of the dogs and named him Sky, however Sky has recently died.  Then more and more of the wild dogs begin to die and the locals start becoming scared.  In the meantime Spirit has started seeing the ghost of her beloved Sky.  Could Sky's ghost be the key to discovering her own gifts as well as helping to solve the mystery of the dead dogs?  This was a pretty decent book, I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it.  I think it's great for the age group and for kids that like mysteries.
