SpongeKarl SquarePants

Karl Lagerfeld gave SpongeBob a makeover for a Paris fundraiser, it fetched the highest bid.  See entire article here.  I think Squidward will be jealous...

The first step is admitting you have a problem

well, I do.  I have developed an alarming addiction to - ahem - Breyers YoCrunch Cookies n' Cream yogurt.  Yep, I could eat this stuff by the truckload.  I made the "post vacation" trek to the grocery store today and Kroger (being the enabler that it is) had the darn stuff on special.  I bought 10 of them.  It's kinda sad really.  They have other flavors that I'm sure are mighty delicious, I just can't get past the lure of the sweet, sweet Oreo.  There, I just had to get that off my chest.  Thanks!

Texile nerd alert! - Unifi to be featured on CNBC

For all the textile geeks out there (like myself) Home Textiles Today is reporting that CNBC will feature Unifi's Repreve recycled polyester production on Dec 2.  Here is the article (via Home Textiles Today):

Greensboro, N.C. -- Unifi, Inc.’s production of Repreve recycled polyester will be featured on CNBC’s Sustainability Series - People, Planet & Profit on Dec. 2 .

People, Planet and Profit examines the bold moves companies are making to find ways to reduce and reuse anything along the supply chain, leading to a leaner, cleaner and greener operation.

A CNBC film crew visited Unifi’s Repreve manufacturing facility in Yadkinville, N.C. on Nov. 24. The television segment will air on CNBC at 8:25 a.m. ET on Wednesday, Dec. 2, and will also be available on its website at http://www.sustainability.cnbc.com/

“Unifi has a long history of reducing our environmental impact, and the Repreve family of products is a natural evolution of that strategy,” said Bill Jasper, president and CEO for Unifi. “Being featured on CNBC’s People, Planet and Profit demonstrates how Unifi is an industry leader in providing sustainable textile solutions.”

Unifi, Inc. (NYSE: UFI) is a diversified producer and processor of multi-filament polyester and nylon textured yarns and related raw materials.

The Greensboro, N.C.-based company adds value to the supply chain and enhances consumer demand for its products through the development and introduction of branded yarns that provide unique performance, comfort and aesthetic advantages.

Unifi's yarns and brands are readily found in home furnishings, apparel, legwear, and sewing thread, as well as industrial, automotive, military and medical applications. For more information about Unifi, visit http://www.unifi.com/ or to learn more about Repreve, visit the new Web site at http://www.repreve.com/.

It would be a good watch for anyone interested in understanding how yarn production actually works along with how recycled yarn is produced (starring Poly and her sister Ester - ha!).

Oh and yeah, I have two degrees in this stuff - dork! :o)

Let the Christmas shopping begin...

I just ordered The Nod Chair (in Pink Toile above) from The Land of Nod for the little one for Christmas.  Love the toile mixed with the stripes.  She's rather obsessed with chairs so I think she'll be quite pleased to have one just her size!  I guess it's officially the Christmas season!

Lovely Bedroom

There is something really appealing about this bedroom featured in Metropolitan Home.  Decorated by Eric Ceputis and Harriet Robinson, see more pictures and read the article here.  I'll just hang out here in the bedroom and perhaps catch a quick nap, if you don't mind.

Video - The Making of Bergdorf Goodman Holiday Windows (via The Cut)

The Cut has a great post about this (including video below) - check it out!

Lovely pool!

I have a love/hate relationship with pools.  I love them when someone else has to take care of them.  I love looking at pictures of divine pools like the one above (from a house in Malibu featured in Elle Decor - see more pictures and read the article here). We have a pool at our "for sale" house and since I was on my own most of the time, the majority of the pool upkeep was shouldered by moi.  Not fun at all, too much work and I always felt like I was fighting a losing battle.  I appreciate pools more when they are not in my backyard :o)

Magazine wall, so cool!

I totally love this.  Glenn Leitch principal at Highland Associates renovated Playboy's (soon to be shuttered) midtown Manhattan office.  Check out the "magazine wall" in the reception area - which Glenn credits with getting them hired to do the job - made up of 15,000 Playboy magazines.  They were glued and stapled into 14-inch-high blocks, then routed to create tongue-and-groove connections and further supported by hidden steel tubes (see article and more photos of the office here).  I love that how when you just glance at it it seems like a painting (or some other sort of art) or even a quilt.  Completely awesome!

Home Shopping Fun! - American Glamour by Badgley Mischka

Badgley Mischka's "American Glamour" HSN line has finally premiered on HSN.  There seemed to be more emphasis on accessories, personally I would like to see a little more clothing (a nice embellished tank or something sparkly that makes us think of their high end line).  But I digress.  Here are some of my favorites:

I want this! - Vera Bradley pleated tote in "Imperial Toile"

Okay, I'm totally owning that I like Vera Bradley.  It took some time to grow on me (and for me to get around the stereotype of the woman that carries these bags - or once did, because they have gotten way hipper).  I have become even more devoted now that I am a Mom and can appreciate the ability to throw these suckers in the washing machine.  Trust me, my Louis Vuitton has been in safely in the dustbag for the past 18 months.  Baby puke + LV = many tears.  I am completely in love with the new Imperial Toile pattern and the Pleated Tote is just what I would like under the tree this year.  And throw in the Tech Case too for good measure.

Tech Case - $22

Happy (Early) Weekend!

I'm off to the "for sale" house tomorrow with the little one to take care of some things and hopefully get my contact lens situation straightened out.  This is after a "Mommy and Me" gymnastics class tomorrow morning, which should be hilarious and/or result in a lifetime ban - ha!

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

I'll take one of these too...

Not only do I adore the YSL Muse bag, but I'm now in love with YSL's Y-Bow suede bowler too ($1695).  Dare to dream...

Perricone MD giveaway over at A Townhouselady's Life

Townhouselady is doing a giveaway for some Perricone MD Cold Plasma (retail value $150) - wow!  Head over to her fab blog and enter!  Good luck!

I want this! - YSL Muse bag

Yeah, I know, the YSL Muse bag been around for a few years now, "it" bag and all.  But the minute I saw it, I knew it was perfect for me.  I have a Prada bag that I got years ago that is much the same size and shape and I have worn that sucker out.  I have been on the hunt for a replacement for awhile now.  But, alas life has gotten in the way and I've had to put this purchase off and off and off (I mean the darn thing is $1795!?! though I think I can find a deal on one if I keep hunting).  I'm putting it off again, for obvious reasons, but I swear one day it will be mine...

Ewoks gone wild...

...seriously.  I'm having one heck of a week:  I'm trying to recover from a sinus infection, fighting with an eye doctor (which involves me not being able to wear my contacts, just my crappy glasses), coordinating our Thanksgiving plans with the In Laws, coordinating Christmas gift giving with my hubby's big family (hopefully we will figure this out over Thanksgiving 'cause the emails are confusing me), talking to our realtor and her mentioning our house has been on the market for 234 days now (God help us) and all we hear are crickets, and then preparing to leave for said house Thursday (which means no internet, no TV) for the weekend.  I'm a bit overwhelmed, not that it's all so hard, it's just a lot on my mind.  I'm gonna try and blog some this week, but I'm not pushing it.

Anyhoo, in the meantime, please do enjoy this non-design, fashion related video.  It made me laugh so hard I had to share.  Please keep in mind that this was on the Today show on Halloween (clip is from E!'s The Soup).  I now present, Ewoks Gone Wild, do enjoy...

Holy Crap! Why?!?

Why would someone want a $75,000 Swarovski crystal encrusted toilet?!?  Designed by Jemal Wright from the Isis Collection out of Hollywood, FL.  See more crazy loos (including a chain of restaurants in Taiwan with a "toilet-centric" theme - eek!) here.

Coastal Living's 2009 Seawatch Idea House

I'm a little late in the game checking this out - but I am loving the Master Suite, Master Bathroom and the Study in Coastal Living's Seawatch Idea House located in Sunset Harbor, NC.  Not totally 100% my style, but certainly appealing in a beach house way.

What the frog?

How much do I love our Frog Pod bath toy keeper from Boon, Inc?  A lot!  I swear this may be one of the most useful baby/kid products out there.  It makes bathtime clean up so much quicker and easier, plus it's completely adorable.  Check out their other great products, so well designed and useful!

Lady Gaga sports Alexander McQueen Spring 2010

I thought long and hard before posting this video, it's weird, it's a bit NSFW, along with a dash of ridiculous in a goth/glam way.  Basically, it's Lady Gaga in a nutshell.  If you, like my husband, aren't familiar with the Lady of Gaga, she's a pop star who is sort of a hybrid of Britney Spears and Marilyn Manson (my first impression of her was that she was totally ripping off Dale Bozzio, lead singer of Missing Persons from back in the '80's - but I digress).  Well the point of this whole thing is that she is wearing Alexander McQueen Spring 2010 (my review here) in the video.  She sports the following:

These in 2 colors

And this whole look head to toe

You can spot them in the video below - if you dare :o) - don't say I didn't warn you...

Winter Kate by Nicole Richie

Here's a sneak peak at some of the looks from Nicole Richie's new (non-maternity) clothing line "Winter Kate".  Here are few things that I liked (I'm most intrigued by the kimono tops - since having a baby I always tend to throw on something like that over a tank top with jeans, etc. Hides some of the post partum "issues" ha):

I would like to see them in person to make the final call about this new celeb line.  The whole 40 piece collection will be available February 2010.

Happy Birthday (to me)!

In a bit of shameless self promotion, I'm gonna wish myself a Happy Birthday!  A year older (yes) and wiser (maybe).

Also, I would be totally and completely selfish if I also didn't acknowledge that it is Veterans Day too.  Happy Veterans Day to all who have served and are serving.  God Bless!

Happy 40th Anniversary Sesame Street!

Has it really been 40 years?!?  Yep.  And Google has been celebrating too for the past few days, featuring different characters from the show.  Here are my two favorites:

Love it!  Google also featured Big Bird, The Count, Burt and Ernie, Oscar, etc.  I'm a bit partial to Cookie Monster, especially when he does "Monsterpiece Theater".

Happy 40th Sesame Street, here's to many more!!!!

OH NO!

I'm totally MIA right now - everyone in the house is sick and I mean SICK.  Not H1N1, thank goodness, just a bad cold.  Started with the little one, then me, then hubby.  Trying to rest and recover.  I will return soon, I promise!!!!

I'm not cool and I'm okay with that...

...seriously.  The reason I said that is because, well, it's true and also because - hang on to your knickers - I love UGGs.  There I said it.  Every fashionista (I hate that term, by the way) just recoiled in horror.  Well recoil away ladies.  I'm not fronting that I wear heels everyday or even gorgy jeweled ballet flats, I don't and I can't.  Running after an almost 18 month old through playgrounds, the yard and Target require a bit more functionality.  And in the cold weather months, UGGs are the most snuggly, easy, comfy shoes ever.  And I'm in need of a new pair.  These just might fit the bill.

Don't judge me too harshly, I still love my fancy shoes, but they simply don't fit my current lifestyle.  I'll get there again, but for now, I'm good with my UGGs and Birkenstocks.

When I saw this Lanvin necklace in October's Harper's Bazaar, I instantly fell in LOVE.  Perfection!

Home Shopping Fun! - Grayce by Molly Sims

Grayce is a new jewelry collection on HSN designed by Molly Sims (actress, former model).  The collection is inspired, in part, by her mother's vintage jewelry.  She's profiled in November's InStyle as their "Celebrity Designer" too, if you want to check it out.

The collection isn't really me, but here are a few interesting pieces that I thought I would share:

"Grayceful Glamour" cuff bracelet - $89.95 (this would be my one pick from the whole collection)
